Internet dating has become such a huge phenomenon that half the UK's single population have now tried dating online, according to a recent survey.
Sathnam Sanghera, a journalist and author of If You Don't Know Me By Now: A Memoir of Love, Secrets and Lies in Wolverhampton, says that online dating is far better than the alternatives when it comes to meeting other singles.
Writing in The Times, he points out that the randomness of trying to meet people in bars and clubs often means that it is ten times harder to find someone you actually like.
Moreover, he says that relying on your friends to set you up with a date becomes increasingly difficult after a certain age when all of them are married.
Internet dating, he says, helps people meet like-minded individuals in a simple and pain-free way and what is more, it is now entirely socially acceptable.
He writes: "The stigma has gone. Four of my most glamorous colleagues and friends met their partners online and are not at all sheepish about it.
"The fact is that internet dating is a no-brainer if you're serious about finding a partner."
If you're serious about finding a great date, search for your perfect match!
