Women like being independent, but they are attracted to men who take the lead where dating is concerned, a new book claims.
The new Debrett's guide, Manners for Men, promises to tell men what women really want.
Jo Bryant, the guide's editor, told the Metro that having good manners is basically about putting someone else first and making them feel comfortable.
She added that in a date scenario, this means taking charge.
Instead of um-ing and ah-ing about where to go on your date, Jo advises: "Be direct and ask her if she wants to go for a meal on Thursday. Don't leave it to her to suggest dates."
In terms of the date itself, once again, the man should lead the way, according to Jo.
"The man should always call the waiter and choose the wine," she says.
However there is one scenario in a date where the man should never be too forward.
"Kiss her on the cheek, linger for a second and see if she responds," says Jo.
"Lunging of any sort is a big no-no."
Armed with these handy tips, search for your perfect date!
