A man's plan to well-and-truly 'pop' the question to his girlfriend were put to abrupt halt when he saw his engagement ring blow away in the wind.
Lefkos Hajji from London had planned to put the £6,000 diamond engagement ring he had bought for his girlfriend Leanne (26) inside a helium balloon before presenting it to her.
But his romantic proposal was scuppered when he came out of the shop and a gust of wind blew the balloon - and the engagement ring - out of his hand.
Lefkos was left to watch helplessly as the ring blew away over the rooftops.
"I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question," he told the Sun.
"I couldn't believe it. I just watched as it went further and further into the air.
"I felt like such a plonker."
However luckless Lefkos says that he is still planning to propose to Leanne after he buys a new ring!
