  Cameron Diaz is allegedly dating the singer John Mayer.
  
  Cam certainly seems to have a penchant for musicians as her three-year relationship with pop heartthrob Justin Timberlake ended earlier this year.
  
  John previously dated buxom blonde Jessica Simpson, but has recently been spotted getting cosy with 34-year-old Cam.
  
  Close friends of the pair say they have known each other for a while, but have now decided to take their relationship one step further.
  
  A source said: "This was technically not their first meeting. They met years ago and have hung out together with mutual friends before.
  
  "But this was the first time they went out alone. It's new and developing and they really like each other."
