    Film star Shia LaBeouf was mocked by his friends after it was reported that he was dating Rihanna.

    He told GQ magazine: "My friends were like, 'Are you serious, bro? Why didn't you tell me about that?' I was like, 'I really don't know her like that.'

    "For weeks they were singing that Umbrella song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!"

    LaBeouf, who is best known for playing the lead role in last year's blockbuster Transformers, was believed to be seeing the R&B singer after the pair were spotted sharing dinner at Kate Mantilini in Beverly Hills last August.

    However, the rumours were immediately scotched by both LaBeouf and Rihanna, who claimed they were not romantically involved and were just friends.

    LaBeouf stars alongside Harrison Ford in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is due to be released on May 22nd.
