    Despite the allure of shoes and handbags, six in ten British women say that they would choose sex over shopping, new research reveals.

    In good news for men, 72 per cent of married women said that they still fancied their husbands and the same number gave their partners seven out of ten or higher in terms of sexual attractiveness.

    Age does not diminish desirability either as half of those wives still enjoying an active sex life with their husbands had been married for more than 20 years.

    The survey, conducted for First magazine, also found that 37 per cent of women had sex once or twice a week and, contrary to popular belief, only half said that their sex life had diminished after having children.

    An overwhelming majority of wives (94 per cent) described themselves as happily married.
