A new study has revealed that the average man has seven sexual partners in a lifetime, while the average woman has four.
The survey, based on data collected from 1999 to 2002 for the National Centre for Health Statistics, also revealed that about 96 per cent of adults have had sex, while some 16 per cent lost their virginity before they turned 15.
About 25 per cent of women and 17 per cent of men said they had only had one sexual partner during their lifetime, while 29 per cent of men and just nine per cent of women claimed to have had sex with 15 or more people.
The groundbreaking computer survey of 6,237 American adults aged 20 to 59 was conducted with complete confidentiality, which means that respondents were more likely to tell the truth!
Dr Kathryn Porter, medical officer for the survey, said: "The participants have a headset on, they hear questions, they touch the screen with responses.
"There's no one else in the room and they can take as long as they want."
Wherever you stand in the survey, search for your perfect date now!
