A year-long study into the eternal question of whether men and women can ever just be friends has resulted in some interesting findings.
While it seems that women have no problem having male friends, the same cannot be said for men.
Some three quarters of male participants in the survey (75 per cent) said that they had fallen in love with a close female friend at some stage in their lives.
On the other hand only six per cent of women claim to have experienced similar feelings for a male friend, suggesting that women are more capable of having platonic relationships with members of the opposite sex than men are.
The survey reported by the Exeter Express and Echo also revealed that 59 per cent of women had jumped into bed with a male friend at some stage.
However, 29 per cent said that they regretted the experience.
