Online dating has 'lost its taboo'

While once thought of as the last resort, online dating is becoming the first port of call for modern singles, an American dating expert has claimed.
Sam Yagan, co-founder of US dating site OKcupid.com, says that the original stigma attached to online dating could be associated with the fact that people who engaged in online searches were considered "nerdy, geeky, techy people".
However, in an age where practically everyone regularly uses the internet, an increasing number of people have become comfortable with the fact that the web is part of all aspects of modern life.
Whether you use the internet for shopping, finding information or news, the one thing that it has fostered in people is the ability to be more selective.
And selection is a key advantage of online dating, says Sam.
He said: "When you cut out all those people you wouldn't date, online dating gives you access to thousands of people you wouldn't have met otherwise
"Whatever you want, it's out there," he added. "If you're looking for a relationship or something short-term, it's out there."
