Online dating 'helps escape comfort zones'

  A lot of people are initially dubious about online dating, but eventually find that it opens up their romantic opportunities like no other service, according to one enthusiast.
  
  Writing in the Baltimore Sun, Maryann James said that she did not believe that internet dating was for her.
  
  However after she eventually acquiesced, Ms James said she realised that online dating was not only easy but also fun.
  
  Moreover, she said that it opened her up to dating people she may never have come into contact with before and gave her a whole new perspective on dating.
  
  Online dating expert Dan Abelon commented: "The only stuff that matters is meeting [people] and interacting with them. Meeting with someone is the first step."
  
  "It allows you, in a relatively short amount of time, to see that you're compatible with someone. I think it makes going on dates less intimidating."
