    If you've had plenty of experience dating but still haven't found the right person, never fear, because online dating is especially good for picky singles, one expert suggests.

    US online dating expert Michael Carter says that conventional dating - going out and meeting single in bars and clubs - subscribes to a "one-size-fits-all" mentality, which he says is far less likely to lead daters to meet like-minded people.

    However because singles can describe themselves, their interests and their priorities in their profiles with online dating, they are able to attract people they will be more compatible with.

    "The underlying concept is that it should be easier to break the ice with people if you share something in common," he told the Victoria Times Colonist.

    "When it comes time to get married and raise a family, things like religion, ethnicity, traditions, religious practicing habits - they all come into play."
