A quarter of all dating website users have had a long-term relationship with someone that they met though a site, new research reveals.
A major new study of 997 online daters conducted by consumer group Which? found that almost three quarters had enjoyed at least one date as the result of websites, proving that internet dating really is helping people to find love.
Safety of personal data emerged as the most important factor when daters were choosing a site, with 75 per cent of respondents listing this as very important.
Which? online editor Malcolm Coles said: "If you're single and want to have some fun then it might be worth giving online dating a go - impressively almost three-quarters of the people we spoke to have had some level of success with someone they met online."
