  For people who are serious about finding Mr or Mrs Right, internet dating is the sensible option, according to people who have had success with online dating.
  
  For example Victoria (33) from Christchurch explained that she first got into online dating when she decided to give her life a complete overhaul.
  
  She changed her profession and decided to buy a house and at the same time, she gave online dating a whirl.
  
  "Internet dating was quite a good way of meeting fellas because they weren't available anywhere else," she told Stuff.
  
  Victoria went on a few dates and eventually she met Chris (32) who she found she had a lot in common with.
  
  The pair met for coffee in August 2005 and Chris asked Victoria to marry him in February 2007. The rest is history.
  
  Similarly Cathy (37) met the love of her life Liam (46) online.
  
  She explained: "I wasn't really into going to pubs and clubs, and none of my friends had any eligible single guys for me. I had a few workmates at the time who were having a go on the internet, and I thought, what have I got to lose?"
  
  Cathy found that she had nothing to lose and everything to gain, as she and Liam have been together for three years now.
