New research has revealed that romance is not only a bonus in a relationship it is a must.
According to research conducted by website Magic of Romance, 87 per cent of people consider romance to be "very important" in their relationship, with only 13 per cent saying "somewhat important".
The website's founders claim that most romantic gestures take less then thirty minutes to prepare, such as running a bath for your partner or cooking them a romantic dinner.
Amy Graybeal, founder and president of Magic of Romance, said: "Most couples say they know that deep down they are loved by their partner.
But every once in a while, they want to be reminded that they are their partner's special someone and that's part of the power of romance.
"Couples can get into this rut of mundane co-habitation and forget what really matters which is love. Romance helps keep the relationship in perspective by bringing love into the forefront of their lives."
