  The Importance of Screennames

   

  A rose may smell just as sweet by any other name but would you smell it in the first place if it was called a stink bomb?

  Didn't think so! The same principle applies to getting admirers to actually read your profile.

  The screenname that you choose for your dating profile carries more importance than you may initially think, so here are our tips and advice to help you choose the most effective profile screenname.

   

  1. If you're looking for something serious from your online dating experience, avoid using screennames with sexual connotations.

  For example: BustyBetty, NineInchNorman, HornyHelen, RaunchyRob

  Choosing a sexual screenname will most likely generate sexual response so if that isn't what you're looking for, avoid such names.

   

  
  2. Don't pigeon hole yourself with an alienating screenname.

  For example:

  'Expensive_Taste' could potentially make you sound like a gold digger rather than someone who enjoys the finer things in life.

  Or

  'MentalMarvin' might make you sound a little peculiar rather than the life and soul of the party.

   

  
  3. Do choose something ambiguous so that admirers have to open your profile to find anything out about you.

  For example: 'John557', 'Sally_London', 'Patricks_Profile'

  Using your actual name is a non gimmicky and open approach to choosing a screenname. It doesn't lead to admirers second guessing your personality and it does make you seem honest and trustworthy from the outset.

   

  
  4. Everybody likes to laugh so don't be afraid to use a bit of good, clean, humour in your screenname.

  For example: 'Click-Here', 'KnockKnock?' or...
