New technology has changed the face of dating forever, according to one expert.
What with online dating, e-mailing, mobile phone texting and social networking websites, there are more ways to meet and flirt with other singles than ever before.
These developments carry both pros and cons for different people, but for most singles who are looking to broaden their dating horizons, times have never been better to meet someone new.
By using online dating services as well as other forms of technology, singles are now able to communicate at length with a person they might fancy going out with before they even get to the first date, which means the chances that you won't get on are far slimmer.
Rebecca Sullivan, a communications studies professor at the University of Calgary, told Canado.com: "We've entered into a whole new realm of tiered dating. It used to be you'd have a phone call and if it worked out, great.
"Now, you go from e-mail to text messaging to 'OK, I'll let you into my Facebook site', to 'maybe we might actually have a phone call and then a coffee date'. There are a lot of gateways towards your perfect mate now."
