In the modern world of sexual equality, do we really need to follow dating rules? According to Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider, the answer is yes, and they've given some handy tips on how to find Mr Right.
The American dating experts and authors of best-selling relationships bible The Rules apparently have A-list fans such as Beyonce, who is blissfully happily married to rapper Jay-Z, among their fans, so they must be doing something right.
Ellen and Sherrie admit that trying to convince independent women that old-fashioned methods sometimes work best is a challenge.
What underlines their approach is the assumption that men are hunters by nature, therefore they like to do the chasing.
So for Ellen and Sherrie, their number one rule is to play hard to get.
They explained to The Sun: "Men like a challenge and to be the pursuer, while women generally like security. If you chase a man or if you're too available, he eventually gets bored, loses interest and dumps you."
The same rule also applies to timing, so Ellen and Sherrie advise women not to accept a Saturday night date after a Wednesday.
They explain: "If he calls for you on Friday for a Saturday date, you're not important. You're last on his list. Men know that if you like a girl, you call Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday for Saturday."
Armed with these handy rules, search for your perfect date!
