Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly wed his long-term fiancée, actress Isla Fisher, in a quiet ceremony in Paris.
According to Australia’s ‘Woman’s Day’ magazine, the couple wed last Monday in a small sunset ceremony with close family and friends. Fisher reportedly sent out an email the next day to her friends informing them of her recent vows; “We did it – we’re married. It was the absolute best day of my life and in so many beautiful moments I missed you all so much. I thought of you as everything was happening, but Sacha and I wanted no fuss”.
Cohen, who is known for playing outlandish characters such as Ali G and Borat, is apparently quite shy in real life so preferred to have a no-fuss wedding rather than a lavish celebrity affair. The newly-weds are said to have married in a traditional Jewish ceremony; Fisher converted to Judaism 3 years ago and has adopted the Jewish name Ayala.
Cohen and Fisher, who met at a party in Sydney, announced their engagement in 2004 after 2 years of dating but put their wedding on hold after the birth of their two-year-old daughter Olive. The couple now split their time between LA and the UK.
After a romantic week in Paris, the newlyweds arrived in London this weekend where Fisher is filming her new movie ‘Burke and Hare’, due to be released later this year.
