  Vernon Kay and Tess Daly made their first public appearance last night after Vernon’s sex text scandal. The pair hosted the Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success awards yesterday at the Odeon, Leicester Square; the awards celebrate young people who have overcome issues such as drug abuse in order to go back into work or education.

  Just a few weeks ago it emerged that Kay had been sending inappropriate texts and private messages to four or five women, all of which Kay claims were good friends or colleagues.

  One of the women was 23-year-old glamour model, Rhian Sudgen. The page 3 girl spoke of how it started as ‘innocent banter’ but as the pair began to see each other more often in nightclubs where Kay was a guest DJ, it began to become more ‘racy’. Allegedly the pair began chatting on Twitter and then moved on to more private emails, followed by a few Skype meetings and occasional phone calls. Sudgen has since become somewhat of a hate figure amongst many women; she has admitted that her actions were inappropriate.

  The seemingly clean-cut presenter publically apologised for his ‘foolish decisions’ on his Radio One show and said “I’ve been an idiot and I’ve let my family down”. While Kay has admitted to the scandalous texts he swears he did not enter into a physical sexual relationship with any of the five women.

  Sources close to the couple insist that the pair, who married in 2003 and have 2 young children, will not split up after these revelations even though ‘the trust has gone’. The allegations could not have come at a worse time for Tess however; she has just realised her book on parenting.

  Vernon and Tess, who were hosts at the Prince’s Trust event, are both ambassadors for the charity and didn’t want to cancel their appearance. The pair both smiled and laughed when they were on stage but off-stage were distant and refused to walk the red carpet, instead sneaking into a side entrance.
