Sending and receiving messages

How do I send a message? How do I read my incoming messages? What's this 'Loopy lovebomb' thing all about? I got an email saying I had a message, but when I went to the site the message had disappeared. What's going on? I sent a message and now I want to cancel it. How can I do that? I deleted a message by accident and now I want it back...  When I try to send a message, I get redirected to a subscription page. I thought this was a free site? How can I stop receiving email alerts when I have new messages. Someone sent me an offensive message. What do I do? How can I stop another member from sending me messages?

How do I send a message to a match?

To send a message another Loopylove member, click on their photo or screenname. This will take you to their profile.

You'll then need to click on the link that reads "send a message to (followed by their screenname)"

Simply type what you want to say in the box and click on the grey button labelled 'Mail>>'.

How do I read my incoming messages?

To read your mail, click on 'Messages' in the blue menu bar at the top of the screen.

This will take you to your inbox where you can view a list of your messages, starting with the most recent.

To open and read the message, simply click on the match's name.

Alternatively if you've opted to have email alerts, we'll send an email to your registered address every time you have a new message, simply click on the link in this email (or paste it into your browser's address bar) to go directly to the message.

If you don't want receive these alerts click on 'My Account' scroll down to the Alerts and Opt-ins section. From there you can view a list of everything you have opted in or out of and you can amend them where necessary.

1. What's this 'Loopylove bomb' thing all about?

It's a great matchmaking tool. Once a week, you get the chance to send a loopy love bomb message.

This is a bulk mailing that goes out to around 100 members chosen according to your default search criteria.

Love bombs are a great way to find potential dates and make yourself known within our dating community.

2. I got an email saying I had a message, when I went to the site the message had disappeared. What's going on?

This person may have deleted their profile or been deleted from the site.

If someone deletes their profile all the messages they sent or that were sent to them are also deleted.

This is done to ensure privacy for people who wish to leave the site.

3. I sent a message and now I want to cancel it, how can I do that?

Unfortunately it is not possible to delete or retrieve a message once it has been sent.

4. I deleted a message by accident and now I want it back

If you happen to delete a message by accident, we've installed a new 'deleted messages' box next to your inbox and you will find them there.

5. When I try to send a message, I get redirected to a subscription page. I thought this was a free site?

It's free for all to register and join our online dating community.  Some of our fabulous features do require a subscription, sending messages is one of them. Why not take a look at our subscription page and see what other exciting features we have available for your enjoyment?

6. I want to stop receiving email alerts when I have new messages.

Simply click on My Account, scroll down to the section called Alerts and Opt-Ins and check No next to the New Message emails option.

7. Someone sent me an offensive message, what do I do?

Underneath the message you will see a link entitled Report the contents of this message as offensive. Click on this and you can send the message to our customer service team for investigation.

Unless it's really obvious why the message is offensive, you might also want to explain a little why you thought so in the box provided.

8. How can I stop another member from sending me messages?

If you really object to someone on the site and decide you never want to hear from them again, you can block them from sending you any further messages using our block facility.

Underneath the box containing the message text, you'll see a link that reads Block this person from seeing my profile.

Click on this link and you'll arrive at a page where you can decide whether to block the match completely or not.

If you block the match you will be completely hidden from them, they won't be able to view your profile, view any previous messages between you, see you in search results or contact you.
